| Teaching content | The microbiology practical course teaches basic techniques for working with microorganisms. The focus is on determining bacterial counts, isolating microorganisms from air and soil samples and identifying them. Further experiments include the formation of biotechnological products such as ethanol, enzymes and antibiotics as well as the determination of bacterial growth. |

Genetic engineering internship
| Course content | In the practical course, a genetically modified bacterium is produced to produce a protein or a fine chemical using molecular biological methods and then validated. |
